A very rare to find, original 1860s Civil War era lady's hand crocheted wool sweater vest. In 40 yrs, I have owned very few of these lovely vests, most of them became moth eaten and discarded. This one only has a Few holes that actually do not seem to be moth holes but just loose threads that need to be reconnect. I feel they can easily be repaired; in the front left is a 1.5" x 1" and this is the largest and the few others are small. It is modeled on a size 2/4 mannequin.

The white spots you see in the photos are Not holes but just the spacing of the crochet work. Take notice to the lovely edges and the larger knobs as the closure. Soft solid black 100% wool that was most likely homespun. The perfect garment for keeping warm on cold nights and for outside wear in the spring and autumn. Our storage and office areas are smoke and pet free environments.
