Original US Civil War Antietam Veterans Banner From The Irish Brigade 1902. This hand painted banner measures at 83 x 69 centimetres and depicts the 1st regiment of the Irish Brigades colour but also includes the years 1862 - 1902 and the words Veterans of Antietam. This banner would of been used by veterans on the 40th anniversary of the battle, the back is covered in newspapers from the United Kingdom and mentions topics like the Boar War, all we know about this banner is that it was discovered in an estate sale some 46 years ago and was likely either used in Ireland or taken to the states and displayed then brought back. We have no provenance or paperwork to go with the banner so please do not ask. This is original to the period stated and would make a good research project.
