General Pegram is today remembered as the father of General John Pegram, one of the Confederacy's great commanders, killed in action at Hatchers Run, Feb 1865 (just a few weeks after his marriage to Baltimore society belle Hetty Cary, the wedding attended by notables incl President Jefferson Davis). James West Pegram was also the father of Colonel Willie Ransom Pegram, one of Lee's youngest commanders, killed at Five Forks, April 1865, & of Major James West Pegram, Jr. 4pp 8 x 11 ink.
