This listing is for an original lady's Day Dress from the Civil War period. It's made of silk taffeta. Originally purple as evident within the folds, the color has mellowed to light brown and black. The sleeves are it's best feature.They are two-piece, a narrower upper sleeve with an attached deep flounce forming a pagoda shape. They are trimmed with purple and black silk pompon fringe. It is set in double-box pleats all around the waist. It has a pocket and facing, but is un-lined. The bodice is interlined with wool batting.
It closes at center front. Included is a period collar with really stunning embroidery. The pin is not included.Condition: Small holes scattered throughout. A repair to the lower left back of the skirt. Sleeve trim shows wear and missing areas. The collar has significant wear around the neck. 36B by 28W and front length- 44 inches.
