This particular example is of a high quality construction and finish with line decoration and articulated neck piece suggesting its use by a Harquebusier of a high position of class. It is a peculiar English design of helmet and consists of a skull formed in two halves, the joint forming a raised comb, a tail or neck guard and a pivoted peak.
At each side are hinged cheek pieces protecting the sides of the face, the hinges with an ornate design. Again these cheek pieces are synonymous with better quality helmets. At the back is a tubular plume holder. A fine example and one which would prove difficult to upgrade on.
