The binding and text block express complete integrity, albeit with light age toning, occasional page edge chipping, and light sporadic foxing, none which effects use.All plates are present and wonderful. Color illustrated plates at front of the O. Several magnificent b/w illustrated plates throughout. Herein is a story of the early days, and some would say glory days, of Gordonsville, VA. This Bible belonged to the early, founding, and instrumental citizens of that fair town.
The genealogy, kept therein, is most likely that of Clementina V. Her maiden name was Baker by the way.

This Bible would have been in the town of Gordonsville during the American Civil War. Gordonsville (incorporated 1870) was a crossroad for two major railroads both before and during the American Civil War. Being thus, it was highly sought after by Union and Confederate armies. The later of which made great use of the town just before several major battles designed to keep the Union from taking it.
