Has one seam down the middle to attach the 2 sides or "panels", a classic attribute of this style. This central seam is also hand stitched.
I believe they were made in 2 sections since they did not have the equipment or technology to make a full width at one time. Has a nice soft early feel and a nice cream color. All in all a super, very scarce Civil War soldier's equipment/uniform accessory. You will not see many of these any more. I have had this one in my collection for 30 years.
Measures approximately 52" wide x 82" long. Quite a nice, and very scarce item to complete a collection of Civil War soldier's personal equipment and items and related items. Can be great with a knapsack or for display with a variety of collections. This one also has some letters embroidered in it as shown. They appear to be the soldier's initials. THIS IS A VERY RARE ACCESSORY. Not many of these survived and you will not see many offered for sale.
