This is a very rare petite antique American early Empire jewelry or valuables box from an estate. This box is in 100%!! original condition with original finish, original hardware, original key, original lining paper.This box dates from the mid 1800s and was carefully built by a master cabinetmaker. The box measures 8 1/4" long x 5 1/4" wide x 3 3/4 tall and weighs 1 pound, 2.8 ounces. The box is made from white pine with a poplar bottom and walnut burl veneer. The box has exceptionally fine lines, a wonderful patina, and original gutta percha knob and escutcheon plate. The little bun feet are original. The original lock still functions well. Probably made in New England or the Mid-Atlantic prior to the Civil War.
