A very nice Pattern 1841 carbine sling buckle which, according to a modern note attached, was dug near Fort Wingate, New Mexico. It is unmarked and measures 83mm x 51mm, sized to accept a 2 1/2 leather sling.Very good condition with tabs that swivel freely. This buckle is nearly identical to Plate 799 in ODonnells and Campbells American Military Belt Plates (page 476).
