Bound Music of the Civil War 1859-1865 Sheet Music   Bound Music of the Civil War 1859-1865 Sheet Music

Bound collection of music from 1859 through about 1864 includes such titles as Robin Red Breast as sung by Madam Anna Bishop and composed by J. As well as the famous Wake, Nicodemus by Henry Clay Work, considered one of the most beautiful songs of the day.

Several songs are endorsed by Madam Bishop and most are either victory songs or songs about the war. There are a series of songs called Wayside Flowers of France and Italy which seem to have a romantic theme and were published by Oliver Ditson. There are songs by M A Kidder and Mrs. Parkhurst, perhaps best remembered for her temperance classic, Fathers a Drunkard and Mother is Dead which does not seem to be included. Also included is Oil on the Brain, Victory at Last, another by M.

Kidder, as sung at the raising of the old flag, on Fort Sumter, April 14th, 1865. There are several operatic tunes and several religious tunes.

On occasional pages are penciled the name Mary A. The binding itself is rough. The contents are unique and inspiring bits of Americana. Well worth re-binding for performing at any Civil War Ball.

Lots of great advertising for pianos and other instruments from 1860s. If you are looking for a specific song, let me know and I will look to see if it is in here.
