Autograph letter signed, 2 1/4 pages, 4 1/2" x 7", Cambridge, 8 March 1865. To "My Dear Whipple" (presumably Edwin Percy Whipple), on political and literary business: I send you Reports of two Lectures lately delivered in England. Both these gentlemen were in the United States last year, and both are warm friends of the North. I hope you will find room in the Transcript for the whole of one Lecture and some extracts from the other. They show that we are not without active friends in England.
I send you yesterday through Fields an extract from a previous Lecture of Mr Ferguson. And hope I shall have the pleasure of seeing it in tonight's paper. Torn from removal of prior mounting (neatly repaired); seams reinforced with cellophane tape; some staining and general wear; remains of prior mounting.
