This listing is for a fantastic original Lady's Dress from the Civil War period. More properly a Morning Gown, it looks like a Wrapper was updated in the period by permanently affixing the gathers in the front panel. This is accented by Champagne colored silk trimmed with delicate passementerie. Both the Champagne silk and the trim look like they were reused from an earlier dress. The fabric is a gorgeous wool challis printed with floral motifs and paisleys composed of flowers.
The print juxtaposes shades of purple and orange- a combo I LOVE! The sleeves are gracefully cut in a curve with silk epaulettes.
The bodice is lined in white cotton. It has a cotton underbodice which fastens in front with hooks/eyes. The skirt is cartridge-pleated from side seam to side seam. It is fully lined with brown cotton and bound with wool hem tape.
It's great for display, inspiration and study. Belt, petticoat and pin not included. Condition: Some scattered holes/wear-The shoulders are the most dignificant areas.
There is a hole by the right hem. Some slight variation in the overall color related to age, but it's not that noticeable. The chest is about 36. The waist is about 24.
The length is about 42 inches. Please note: Measurements are approximate and should be taken as maximum. Antique clothing items are not wearable UNLESS specifically labeled so in the description.
