1840s to 1860s Pre-Civil War Era Vibrant Floral Print Silk High-End Winter Gown Authentic. Please excuse the bodice not being closed, it was a bit too small for my extremely pigeon-breasted dress form! Skirt is very full, and is shown in the photos with nothing underneath, so could be made much fuller.
Included is a beautiful lace fichu of the same period, in excellent condition. Bodice is padded with cotton batting for warmth, which seems unusual for a more fancy silk dress such as this. There is one deep pocket to the front/hip area on the left side. 36 inches (measured from bottom of V waist-line in front).
Shoulder Seam to Shoulder Seam: 18 inches (the tops of the seams sit a bit low on the shoulder). Sleeve Length: 17 inches from shoulder seam to bottom of pointer flare (bottom of flared sleeve opening also measures 17 inches around). Very Good Condition for a historical garment of this era and design! There is some fade to the purple colored flowers on the bodice, but the back of the skirt has large swaths of perfect fabric that still shows vibrant lilac! The silk and other materials is amazingly strong with no shattering (I wouldnt even call it fragile except in the underarm areas and at the small of the back, where there is some threadbare areas).
There is some tea-colored staining to the left side of the skirt, but it almost blends and does not detract. An amazing piece that displays beautifully! The item "1840s to 1860s Pre-Civil War Era Vibrant Floral Print Silk Gown Winter Dress" is in sale since Thursday, September 19, 2019.
